As Group CEO Jon is responsible for finance, HR, administration and facilities within the PM Group as well as managing special projects. Thanks to his knowledge of the legal sector and his wider business knowledge from his previous accountancy roles in accountancy, Jon is well placed to spot and capitalise on opportunities within the sector.

Experience

As a qualified Chartered Accountant Jon previously held senior roles in both national and local independent accounting firms. In 2003, he made the switch to the legal sector, joining PM Law, initially as Group Head of Finance and Administration. He later progressed to become a Partner and Group CEO.

As the group continues to grow, Jon leads the long-term strategy aimed at improving the synergies between the different businesses within the group. To do this, he works closely with the senior management team as well as the owners and senior managers of the group businesses.

Harvey is a highly experienced Property Law solicitor. As Group Managing Director and part of the Executive Team, he is jointly responsible for formulating and delivering on the group strategy. Harvey is a member of the Law Society Property & Private Client Sections and is committed to ensuring clients receive a seamless, straightforward, quality service.

Experience

Harvey has worked in the legal profession for over 20 years and qualified as a solicitor in 2001. Upon joining the firm, Harvey launched our residential conveyancing business, PM Property Lawyers, which now operates nationally. He later became Group Managing Director to support in shaping the future strategy of the business.

More About Harvey

Having built and grown PM Property Lawyers from scratch, Harvey is now focused on applying the learnings from that business to our conveyancing umbrella firm partners to make the most of the opportunities within their businesses. As Group Managing Director, Harvey’s broader remit now includes contributing to the overall group strategic plan and a wide range of specific projects across the group.

Harvey was co-founder of the UK Legal Tech Association (UKLTA), the Sheffield Legal Hackers and Unconventional Legal (a legal tech consultancy and events business) and a former director of the Conveyancing Association.

Outside of work, Harvey is an active charity fundraiser and in recent years has completed the London Marathon as well as the Ride London 100-mile cycle sportive and Swim Serpentine events, raising thousands of pounds for local charities in the process.

Richard oversees the function of the PI department at PM Law. This includes clinical negligence, civil resolution and litigation and wills, trusts & probate. Richard ensures these departments work to the best of their ability and meet client expectations.

Experience

Richard started his current role in December 2020 having previously been responsible for the litigation department in Proddow Mackay. He’s been with the PM Law Group for over 25 years.

More About Richard

The most important part of Richard’s role is ensuring that clients receive the exceptional service that they’ve come to expect from PM Law. Richard gets a lot of enjoyment out of making the work lives of his colleagues better – he sees this as an effective way of getting the best out of them.

The fact that the business is dynamic and ever-changing means Richard is always having to adapt, keeping things fresh and exciting. His role means that he always needs to be looking ahead and has to stay agile so that the business can evolve as required.

Richard is a lifelong supporter of Liverpool FC and is a season ticket holder for Warrington Wolves RLFC. He’s also a keen runner and recently completed the Leeds marathon.

In 2019, Sabyta was appointed as Assistant Coroner in the Derby and Derbyshire area.

Alongside the PM Law Managing Director, Ryan oversees the Company’s operational performance against annual targets and develop contingencies. This includes identifying areas of the business with Management Information where improvements are required to enable the business to improve efficiencies and deliver MI as appropriate to be acted upon.

Ryan is an experienced Legal Services Operations professional, having started his career in the legal industry in 2000. The experience Ryan has obtained across the legal services sector has allowed him to be successful in running teams/departments. This includes delivering elevated levels of customer service, achieve financial performance in accordance with business strategy and provide a high quality of work in a heavily regulated industry.

Having previously worked for PM law earlier in Ryan’s career, the opportunity to return and work here was really enticing for Ryan. Ryan really enjoys supporting colleagues in their roles, by providing an environment in which they have the opportunity to succeed to the best of their ability. Outside of work, Ryan is an avid supporter of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club and hold a season ticket with his family. Additionally, Ryan also has a passion for boxing, where he enjoys attending boxing events around the country.

Tim joined the business in 2000 and, further to qualifying as a solicitor in 2004, he subsequently became a Director.

Tim has a proven track record of successfully litigating complex liability and quantum claims, including those that arise from road traffic accidents. He has acted for claimants with catastrophic life-changing injuries, helping them to achieve significant settlements, running into seven figures. Tim also has considerable experience in claims arising from accidents abroad where issues of jurisdiction arise.

Right from the start of his career, Tim has been committed to the cause of accident victims, fearlessly taking on cases that other firms have turned down when he feels strongly that there is a case to be won. He’s motivated to maximising compensation for claimants and also in seeking to secure funds for treatment to help secure the best possible recovery from their injuries.

Outside of his busy work life, Tim likes to keep active, exercising and travelling regularly when possible. He also enjoys relaxing by reading or cooking.

Ceri manages and is responsible for the operational and technical performance of the personal injury litigation team. Her role includes ensuring the team delivers legal advice in a timely manner as well as making sure client’s expectations are met. Ceri also provides legal, technical and tactical support as well as training to encourage the development of her team.

Experience

Ceri studied Law at the University of Manchester before studying the LPC at the University of Sheffield, followed by a Training Contract. She qualified as a Solicitor in November 2008 and joined PM Law in December 2009. Shortly after this, in January 2010, Ceri became an RTA Team Supervisor. Since then, she has also been the RTA Litigation Team Leader and became the RTA Litigation Team Manager in November 2019. In March 2022, Ceri became an Associate Director of PM Law Limited.

Samantha manages a team of six talented individuals who deal with Dispute Resolution, Employment, Wills, Trusts & Probate and Landlord & Tenant matters. She also handles the day-to-day conduct of a number of higher value civil litigation matters with the aim of settling or resolving disputes between parties, whether individuals or businesses, to achieve a fair and amicable outcome for our clients.

Experience

Samantha started as a legal secretary in dispute resolution in 1997 and became a Paralegal in 2000. She qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in September 2003 and has practiced civil litigation for her entire career. Samantha then became a supervisor in August 2004 and has managed a team of experienced lawyers since 2018.

Samantha loves the culture at PM Law and gets a lot of satisfaction from getting positive results for our valued clients. Sam also takes great pride in supporting and helping the members of her team develop. This is also what she considers the most important part of her role – ensuring her team have the support they need to achieve their individual goals.

Sam loves travelling and spending time with her family. She also has a fantastic group of friends that she’s very grateful for – they fill her life with fun and there’s never a dull moment with them.

Jennifer joined PM Law as it’s very forward-focused and offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and development. The firm adopts and promotes a very collaborative work environment across all departments.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of Jennifer’s role is supervising junior staff and contributing to their professional growth. She also enjoys the rapid pace of employment law and staying current with new legal developments, which is very intellectually stimulating.

She’s now a specialist in landlord and tenant matters, as is very passionate about supporting clients within this niche area of complex law.

Helen began working in the legal industry in 1995. She qualified to practice Cilex in 2020 and is now finalising her higher level Cilex diploma in law to attain higher practice and advocacy rights.

Helen works to resolve disputes and problems for both landlords and tenants. She aims to remove as much stress from a situation for a client, to manage and bring about a conclusion to allow her client to move forward again, whether that be recovery of property, supporting repairs to be done, protecting individual rights, or acting as intermediary to resolve a dispute quickly and in the most cost-effective way.

Helen loves how supported she is at PM Law. Whenever she’s wanted to further her career, the team have given the opportunity without hesitation. Thanks to the support she receives from her colleagues, Helen is able to provide a similar level of help to her clients, allowing her to resolve matters effectively.

Lucy has worked as a Claims Handler for an accident management company as well as a defendant Portal Case Handler. She uses the knowledge gained from her previous roles to provide a high-level of service to our clients.

Lucy was aware of PM Law before joining and knew it would be a good place to further develop her skills. She joined in 2016 and has taken full advantage of the positive and supportive office environment, taking any opportunity to learn from her experienced colleagues.

Lucy always works efficiently to get the best outcomes for her clients in a timely manner. She is an extremely reliable member of the team and we know that all of her clients will agree – when she says she’s going to do something, she will do it..

In her free time, Lucy really loves spending time with her family wherever possible.

Claire’s specific interest lies in Occupational exposures resulting in asbestos-related injuries and occupational cancers. She is a member of the Institute of Legal Executives and holds a BA LLB from the University of Cape Town. Additionally, she is a member of Apil. Having accumulated extensive experience over the years, Claire is committed to obtaining damages for her clients in cases of serious life-changing injuries or loss of life caused by exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace. She believes that assisting her clients with necessary care and compensation is a worthwhile job and enjoys the litigation process. Claire joined PM Law to undertake complex injury work and further develop her skills in this area. Despite the challenges that her job poses, she remains dedicated to her role. In her free time, Claire enjoys walking in the countryside and watching South African rugby.

In April 2023, Paolo joined PM Law as a Civil Litigator, managing his own caseload of small claims under the direction of Richard Helsby and Samantha Ibrahim.

Paolo graduated with his Diploma in Legal Practice in 2019 while working as a court-based volunteer for a year, assisting Litigants in Person (Support Through Court). In January 2019, he started his first role as a fee earner where he began managing his own small claims caseload. Paolo then went to the UKVI (UK Visa and Immigration) in May 2022 as part of the civil service where he worked as a workflow manager. His main responsibility was the operational delivery of the humanitarian visa caseload for the Home For Ukraine Scheme

Paolo really appreciates the support of his team, going as far to say that this is his favourite thing about his role. He loves learning from his professional, well experienced colleagues. When asked about what the most important part of his role is, Paolo thinks it’s the people he helps. He gets a lot of satisfaction from supporting his clients with their problems and doing everything he can to get a positive outcome for them. In terms of what clients can expect from Paolo, he strives to approach every task with a positive, professional attitude and have amazing attention to detail. When not busy helping clients, Paolo loves going for walks in the peak district with family. He also really enjoys having dinners with friends whenever possible.

Susanne obtained her degree from Staffordshire University in 1996 and her Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at Huddersfield University in 2007.

Susanne joined PM Law in 2016 on a temporary 3 month contract and is still here 7 years later – this highlights how highly regarded she is within the team. Achieving the best settlements for her clients is what keeps Susanne motivated. Susanne loves the ability to help them get back to the position they were in prior to the accident or, in other cases, helping them move forward in their lives with the tools to deal with the differences in their lives. Susanne’s clients and colleagues will always receive her unwavering support. She’s committed to doing her utmost to tackle issues head on and provide honest answers and feedback. When she gets time, Susanne enjoys holidays abroad and travelling to the Lake District with her husband. She also loves watching football and support Chesterfield FC and Manchester United.

Melanie completed her Law degree at Sheffield Hallam University in 2009. From here, she went on to complete her post graduate diploma in Legal Practice in 2010. Melanie then became a Paralegal/Litigator until securing a Training Contract at PM Law and qualified as a solicitor in 2021.

Melanie quickly felt part of the close-knit team in her department, allowing her to thrive and learn from the people around her. A passion for advocacy is what drives Melanie to achieve the best possible compensation for clients with serious and life-changing injuries. This also remains Melanie’s main goal – she takes great pride in assisting pursuing a successful personal injury claim. Melanie always goes the extra mile for her clients, providing clear and direct advice and avoiding legal jargon to avoid any confusion. Outside of work, Melanie plays competitive Crown Green Bowls for local teams and her county. They are also an avid fan of England Rugby Union and loves attending Twickenham to watch them play. In addition, Melanie is an active fundraiser for Macmillan and MND, with a particular focus on the Mel Evans MBE Foundation, which raises awareness for MND. To raise funds, she has run half-marathons, participated in photo shoots, and will soon be involved in a Strictly Come Dancing event.

Simon works within the Litigation Team working on behalf of claimants. His duties are to pursue damages arising from accidents that may have incurred as a result of a road traffic accident, where an employer may be responsible under the Employers Liability Act and Occupiers Liability Act. Simon provides advice to clients in respect of liability prospects and as to the quantum of their claims.

Simon has worked for insurance companies and law firms since the early 1990’s, acting for both claimant and defendant. Over that time, Simon has worked as a Litigator and has had responsibility for a team of Litigators.

Simon joined PM Law in June 2022 having moved to the Sheffield area from the South East. Simon sees establishing a rapport with his clients to better understand their needs as the most important part of his role. This rapport helps him to progress a successful recovery of their losses. Simon also gets a lot of enjoyment from the assessment of liability and quantum prospects. In his spare time, Simon enjoys playing and watching football. He has played in Saturday and Sunday teams since the early 90’s and is a keen Chelsea supporter, attending games whenever possible. Simon is also an avid cyclist, riding on 100 miles per week on average. He also regularly rides larger events, such as the London 100, London to Brighton, and London to Southend, often raising money for charities in the process.

Carrie is responsible for running the Costs department within PM Law. Carrie ensures that legal costs and client’s settlements are recovered for Road Traffic Accidents, Employers’ and Public Liability as well as Clinical Negligence PI claims. Carrie also deals with any disputes from third parties in order to maximise costs recovery whilst working closely with the PI department and sending Statements of Costs to the Court for Trial.

Carrie started at PM Law in 2014 in the Accounts Department working closely with costs, to which Carrie joined their team as a costs administrator later on that year. Carrie then got her Diploma in Business and Administration NVQ level 3 before her promotion in December 2017 to Deputy Costs Supervisor. In December 2019, Carrie received her second promotion to Costs Supervisor and still remain in this role today.
